Prague in February Guide - 9 Things to Do

February still holds cold temperatures but with a romantic air. Prague offers festivals, their own carnival, concerts, magic show, comics fest and culinary feast.

The temperatures average 1 C (33 F) with lows of -1 C (30 F) and highs of 5 (41 F).

So, what to wear? 

- Bring warm clothes, scarf, beanie, gloves, boots, well, the list goes on.

But besides the cold, Prague has a lot to offer. We brought a few events that we found very appealing.

Events in February 2020


Český Ples (Czech Ball)

When: 1st of February

Where: Municipal House, Republic Square 5, Prague 1


Start February enjoying the atmosphere of the most famous Czech ball. Taking place at the impressive Municipal House, this noble event gathers outstanding Czech personalities and celebrities, artists and a marvelous ball.

Of course that such a glamorous night comes at a price. Tickets are being sold for 14 000 CZK, approx 550 EUR. You do enjoy a very high standard service and delicacies as well some beautiful people around you.

Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK: Absolute Tribute to Beethoven

When: 5th & 6th of February 2020

Time: 19:30

Where: Municipal House, Rebublic Square 5, Prague 1


Beethven would be turning 250 years in 2020. Despite being an imposible date to achieve, there are not that many names in history that are known to all after two and a half centuries. Hence, these two evenings wil lbe fully dedicated to the composer.

The Illusionists

When: 6th to 9th of February

Where: Prague Congress Centre, 5. května 65, Prague 4.

Comic-con

When: 7th to 9th of February

Where: O2 Universum, Českomoravská 17, Prague 9

Entry Fees: from 690 CZK


An international festival dedicated to comics, video games, board games, films, books art and costumes.

Meets with film stars, video game champions and a whole legion of comic lovers.


Valentine’s Day in Prague

When: 14th of February 2020

Where: varied Locations


Prague’s romantic flair reaches its top on Valentine’s Day. Hotels such as Appia Hotel Residences put on special packages, romantic boat dinners, a walk in the cold night and concerts, ballet and theatre are all great options to spend with your other half.

St Matthew’s Fair

When: 22nd of February – 13th of April

Opening hours: 10:00 – 22:00

Where: Prague Holesovice Exhibition Centre


A very traditional fair for the family, bringing 120 attractions and rides for the young and adults. The oldest reference to the St Matthew’s fair dates back to the 16th century and it is the most popular fair in the Czech Republic.

Masopust Festival 2020

When: 25th of February

Where: Streets of Prague


The Czech version of carnival and Mardi Grass, the Masopust festival dates back to the 13th century and it means “Meat fast” celebrating the end of the winter, the fertility of spring and to bring happiness.

People dressed on costumes will be drinking, eating and dancing. There is an annual parade, but the locations are still to be confirmed.
